A wedding is a celebration. More than a party, it’s a festival to the happy couple, a soiree to end all soirees.

Liz and Jason’s wedding lived up to this description with style and panache. As you’ll see in the brilliant photos by Blueye Images, it was an affair to remember fit for any glam couple.

Starting early Saturday morning, our evening venue, the spectacular Ocean Key Resort, was taking delivery of the massive white tents that would cover the famous Sunset Pier that night. Adorned with warm golden perimeter lighting, paper lanterns in navy and sky blues, all over a classic black and white checkered dance floor where the celebration was sure to kick off.

Elsewhere, in the prestigious Mallory Room, Liz and her ladies were being tended to by talented Studio Marie Pierre with expert hair and makeup styling. While this was underway, Mama Flowers made delivery of a stunning assortment of florals. White hydrangea were given to the bridesmaids, and white roses to the mothers, as the men donned boutonnieres with starfish and a special white dendrobium orchid blossom for Jason, with the creme de la creme reserved for Liz – a naturally round, handtied bouquet of white open roses, double lisianthus, tulips and light blue hydrangea.

With beautification now complete, Liz and Jason were ready for their close-up. Lona from Blueye Images and Jonathan from Cineaverde were on-hand to record the day in full detail. Key West’s famed Old Town Trolley and the Conch Tour Train collected the bridal party and guests for a lovely journey to St. Mary’s Church on Truman Avenue, the proud basilica of our island. Once there, Liz and Jason proceeded down an aisle of white hydrangea bound in navy ribbon, toward the altar accompanied by two distinguished arrangements of blue and white hydrangea atop white pedestals. Father John Baker brought them into the first moments of their marriage in that hallowed sanctuary, one of the grandest and most revered sites in all of the Keys and a fitting location to ring in the union of a couple looking forward to even grander things.

Now that the final touches were ready back at Sunset Pier, it was time to begin the celebration. Cocktail hour was inaugurated by DJ Mike Berrios as guests gathered around high tables in white linen with navy accents. Each table hosted a rustic lantern with pillar candle and vases of white hydrangea. Featured were hors d’oeuvres of ahi tuna tartar on crisp malanga chips, mini crab cakes with chipotle aioli, grilled lamb lollipops with green papaya salsa, and parmesan crisp with balsamic ricotta, sundried tomato compote and roasted garlic.

All this was only a prelude to the gorgeous dinner to follow. Set amidst 10 great tables clad in navy, and around centerpieces of blue and white hydrangea, guests were served mouthwatering entrees of 8-ounce filet with potato creme with demi glaze and chimmichurri, or citrus marinated Key West “fresh catch” with pineapple mint salsa and coconut ginger garnish. For dessert, 95 cupcakes were delivered in three styles from Cakes by Karol: Marble with Dulce de Leche filling, Strawberry with cream cheese in chocolate, and Key Lime with raspberry in vanilla frosting, in addition to a special personal wedding cake for Liz and Jason, a Marble cake with Dulce de Leche within.

Afterward, Jason and Liz were the life of the party, while in another sense, the part was about life itself. The spirit of these two young lovers was infectious with smiles as broad as the Key West horizon and an energy that propelled them into their marriage with abandon. We wish them nothing but the best as they celebrate the days ahead.
